Collaboration celebrates the art, culture and heritage of Rhode Island's diverse Latino community

Mayor Angel Taveras, the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, the Hispanic Heritage Committee of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts present Rhode Island's third annual Latino CommUNITY Celebration from September 15-October 15, 2011.

The Latino CommUNITY Celebration promotes activities taking place statewide during the national observation of Hispanic Heritage Month. Organizers are currently looking for partners from Rhode Island's nonprofit cultural community and businesses who want to take advantage of this collaborative marketing and cultural tourism effort.

Participating nonprofit cultural organizations and businesses, at no cost to them, will be listed on the official Latino CommUNITY Celebration web site, recognized in general Latino CommUNITY Celebration promotional materials, and will receive technical assistance from the partners to promote individual Latino CommUNITY Celebration activities and venues.

The Latino CommUNITY Celebration showcases the art, culture, and history of Rhode Island's diverse Latino community. Hispanic Heritage Month was first celebrated in Rhode Island in 1989 to recognize the contributions of Hispanics to American culture. We continue this celebration in RI with the contributions of many Latino role models who define and strengthen the Latino culture through its art, culture and history.
