Celebrate Providence! Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative Events: July 26th - August 1st

Mayor Angel Taveras, the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the Celebrate Providence! 2013 Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative events for July 26th - August 1st. From music and dance to Opera In the Park, Mayor Angel Taveras' Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative showcases the art of local neighborhoods in city parks throughout the summer. All events are free and open to the public.

Opera Providence Presents Homage to Broadway
Sunday, July 28th @ 5pm
Hopkins Square
Presenting partner: Opera Providence
The series features exceptional talent from all over the region. Each performance will highlight favorites from the operatic repertoire and popular Broadway hits.

Bill Harley
Tuesday, July 30th @ 6pm
Fargnoli Park
Presenting partner: Elmhurst Clean & Green
Grammy award-winning artist Bill Harley will perform his delightful blend of singing and storytelling.

Block Party
Wednesday, July 31st @ 5:30pm
Harriet & Sayles Park
Presenting partner: Family Services of Rhode Island
A good old fashioned block party including live music, a breakdancing crew, face painting, and free popcorn.

Thursday, August 1st @ 6pm
Dexter Training Grounds
Presenting partner: WBNA
Master Djembe Drummer Issa Coulibaly and Friends will lead a drumming workshop for all ages and abilities.
