Community MusicWorks Gives Surprise Performance at City Hall

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

On Tuesday, November 16, cellist Heath Marlow and violinist Aaron McFarlane, two members of the Community MusicWorks Players, graced City Hall with music by Johan Sebastian Bach.

The performance was part of the 10-day "Bach Around Town" celebration that culminated in a weekend-long marathon concert of Bach's solo works and a weekend of concerts featuring the CMW Players with special guests performing his orchestral music.

The city's musicians-in-residence performed the music of Bach throughout the City in places where people might least expect them -- they visited libraries, cultural institutions, and even Providence's train station.

Community MusicWorks is dedicated to creating a cohesive urban community through music education and performance that transforms the lives of children, families and musicians. Their model is centered around the teaching, mentoring, program design and performance activities of their musicians-in-residence, the Providence String Quartet and the Community MusicWorks Players.
