A recent report by Ann Markusen and Anne Gadwa offers an overview of 20 years of creative placemaking efforts. The white paper was commissioned by the Mayors' Institute on City Design, a leadership initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the United States Conference of Mayors and American Architectural Foundation.
Providence is mentioned throughout the report and was one of fourteen case studies profiled. The authors "chose the case studies from hundreds of possible cases written up by others or widely admired by practitioners, policymakers, and researchers."
Lynne McCormack, Director of the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, was interviewed for this report.
