The Manton Avenue Project (MAP) works to unleash the creative voices of kids living in Providence's Olneyville neighborhood, through playmaking.
Since January 2004 they have been teaching children the art of playwriting, beginning when they are in third grade, and professionally producing the kids' plays on stage with a company of volunteer adult artists from Providence's vibrant theatre community.
Thanks to the generosity of the William D'Abate School and Moses Brown over the past nine years MAP has been lucky enough to receive free-of-charge space for their playmaking classes, playwriting weekends and performances.
In February of this year the Manton Avenue Project opened its doors to their very own Clubhouse. The MAP Clubhouse not only houses their offices and classroom, but gives the MAP Kids a place to come to throughout the year after school to work on their plays or homework.
The folks over at the Manton Avenue Project now need to brighten up the space with new lamps, cozy up spots with bean bag chairs and keep the supplies flowing for the students. They have set up a Wish List on Amazon so patrons can lend a hand in building the Clubhouse and the MAP's future.
