PROVIDENCE - Mayor Angel Taveras has announced that the City of Providence is accepting proposals for Celebrate Providence! 2013 Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative, as the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism gets ready for another fun summer of theater, dance, music and other live performances in Providence's neighborhoods.
The Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative awards funds to nonprofit community and arts organizations to create high-quality programs designed to respond to the unique characteristics of neighborhoods and foster a sense of community pride.
Organizations interested in participating must be located in Providence to be eligible for the grants and the programming must take place in the neighborhoods and public spaces of Providence between July 1 and September 1, 2013.
The deadline to submit proposals is February 28, 2013 at 4pm.
Funding will range from $500 to $4,000 per project, and only one proposal will be accepted from an organization. As part of an effort to encourage newer parks groups to create strong, dynamic programs for their neighborhoods, there is an additional category for 2013 to help seed activities for those organizations in existence for 3 years or less. The request cap for New Organizations is $1500. Veteran Organizations actively working for 4 or more years may request up to $4000.
