Providence, RI - Mayor Angel Taveras hosts the annual City of Providence Tree Lighting festivities on Saturday, December 1 at 6:00 PM at the Bank of America Skating Center, inviting families and residents to kick-off the festive season of shopping and homecomings in the state Capital. This year's tree lighting ceremony will be emceed by Mayor Taveras and WPRI Anchor Jennifer Mobilia. The ceremony will feature performances by RPM Voices, the 18 Wheelers and the Brown University Skating Band. Award-winning local and regional figure skaters will perform a figure skating demonstration.
Members of the Johnson & Wales University chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa are selling ornaments to decorate the tree to benefit Hasbro Children's Hospital. Refreshments will be served by Johnson & Wales as well as Legal Seafoods. Stanley Tree Service is donating crane service for the trees.
