Mayor David N. Cicilline and the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism have launched a comprehensive planning process designed to strengthen Providence's arts and cultural sector.
There are many opportunities for you to participate in this planning process.

| Cryptic Providence Final Days |
|
|
Final Day September 27, 12pm - 6pm, North Burial Ground, 5 Branch Avenue, Free And Open To The Public. Since June, the historic North Burial Ground in has been hosting an art and performance project by Provincetown artist Jay Critchley. Some of the highlights of the final day include:
Footnotes: A Tribute To Albert J. Jones A performance and installation by historian Nancy Austin (Newport, R.I.) and Artist Caroline Woolard (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and featuring a tea party at 3pm.
Final Repose: A Historical & Artistic Walking Tour, 1pm - 2:30pm This tour will examine the complex interweave of natural and man-made elements in NBG, the cemetery's evolution in response to changing attitudes toward death and burial practices, and select historical and artistic features.

| Movies On The Block: Final Screening |

September 25, Dusk, Corner Of Westminster Street & Union Street, Free And Open To The Public. Bring your friends and family to watch your favorite flicks on Providence's only outdoor movie screen. Every Thursday during the months of June, July, August and September movies will begin at dusk. As always, introducing the show are International shorts presented by the Rhode Island International Film Festival. Don't forget the picnic blankets and snacks! | 9th Annual Street Painting Festival Postponed |

New Date October 4, 11am - 10pm, Bank of America Skating Center, Free And Open To The Public. A celebration of art and artists in Providence, where businesses and individuals come together to donate time, money, and talent to benefit charitable causes focused on children and youth in the Providence area. Approximately 300 professional and amateur artists from New England will create 165 works of art on the surface and walkways of the Skating Center. For more information please click here. |

Exhibit Runs Through November 21, Begins At Design Within Reach, 210 Westminster Street, Free And Open To The Public. The art installed in ten windows in Downtown Providence creates a six-block loop that viewers can walk day or night. One of the key new features is the addition of an interactive Gallery/Fine Art guide. RI Foundation Arts In Academics Grant. This fund supports educational projects that integrate art disciplines into other core academic subjects to benefit Rhode Island public school students. Call For Entries: Letters About Literature. The Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, in partnership with Target Stores and in cooperation with affiliate state centers for the book, invites readers in grades 4 through 12 to enter Letters About Literature, a national reading-writing contest. To enter, readers write a personal letter to an author explaining how that author's work changed the reader's way of thinking about the world or themselves. The deadline is December 6.
