Ghost Stories At The Library

October 30, 6:30pm - 7:30pm, Providence Public Library, 150 Empire Street, Central Barnard Room, 3rd Floor, Free And Open To The Public. Get into Halloween at the Library! Steel Yard's 2008 Halloween Iron Pour

October 31, 6pm, The Steel Yard, 27 Sims Avenue, Free And Open To The Public. Activities from 6pm - 7pm will include a ceramic bowl sale by their Ceramics Cooperative, bike art and costume building with Recycle-A-Bike, and a pumpkin flinging trebuchet. Zombie President & Attack Of The 50-Foot Woman

Positively Aware: (Mis)perceptions Of Living With HIV/AIDS

27m: An Interactive Sound Installation

November 7, 1pm - 6pm, November 8, 12pm - 4pm, AS220 Sidewalk, 115 Empire Street, Free And Open To The Public. Internationally celebrated artist Ilona Nemeth will bring her audio piece, 27 Meters to the sidewalk outside AS220. Originally shown in Brno, Czech Republic in 2004, this piece contains six monologues of different people. For more information please click here.

A Beluga Whale Walked Into A Bar: The Really Bad Joke Plays

The Manton Avenue Project presents simply spectacular plays as part of their Play-It-Again Program. All plays are written by kids submerged in weekly playwriting classes and acted out by adult actors while the kids view their masterpiece from a writer's desk on-stage. Artist Opportunities

RI Foundation Arts In Academics Grant. This fund supports educational projects that integrate art disciplines into other core academic subjects to benefit Rhode Island public school students. Application deadline: October 31, 2008. For more information and to download an application please click here.

Call For Entries: Letters About Literature. The Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, in partnership with Target Stores and in cooperation with affiliate state centers for the book, invites readers in grades 4 through 12 to enter Letters About Literature, a national reading-writing contest. To enter, readers write a personal letter to an author explaining how that author's work changed the reader's way of thinking about the world or themselves. The deadline is December 6. Call For High School Singers. The Junior Providence Singers, a choral training and performance program for high school singers, will hold 2009 season auditions by appointment on November 11 and November 18 at the Carter Center in East Providence.
