Now in its fifth year, Bright Night Providence is RI's largest New Year's Eve celebration!  Some of the highlights of this year's celebration include children's activities, sword swallowers, a Providence College basketball game (free to the first 3000 wrist band wearers), the Nerveless Nocks Daredevils, a lazer light show and a whole lot more.  Tickets are only $15 each or 4 for $50!  Please click here for more info and to purchase tickets.

ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES
Celebrate Providence! 2009 Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative Proposals Now Being Accepted
The Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative awards funds to non-profit organizations to create and perform high quality programs designed to respond to the unique characteristics of neighborhoods and foster a sense of community pride. Organizations interested in participating must be located in Providence to be eligible for the grants and the programming must take place in the neighborhoods and public spaces of Providence between July and September 2009. Funding will range from $500 to $4000 per project and only one proposal will be accepted from an organization.  Applications must be sent to the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism at Providence City Hall, 25 Dorrance Street, Room 111, by January 30 at 4 p.m.  To download an application please click here.
 
Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative Grant Workshop

Call For Volunteers
Bright Night Providence - RI's largest New Year's Eve Celebration, is seeking over 100 volunteers to help make this year's New Year's Eve Celebration safe and fun for everyone. Volunteers will work 3-4 hour shifts on New Year's Eve, giving information to patrons, checking wristbands, putting up posters and doing other work to make sure that the festival runs smoothly. Also, limited opportunities for volunteering in the weeks before New Year's Eve and in the weeks after the festival are available. The Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) is now accepting entries for its 13th Annual Film Festival to be held August 4-9th, 2009 at venues throughout the state of Rhode Island. The deadline to apply is January 15. For more information and to download an application please click here.
 
Perishable Theatre Classes Now Enrolling
Perishable Theatre Arts School announces classes for the 2008 Winter Quarter, Starting dates from January 26 - February 4. Public Art Call To Artists
The New England Foundation for the Arts is administering a request for qualifications for six different public art projects in Northern New England. Artists and artist teams from all six New England States are eligible to apply. Deadline for artist submissions is Thursday, January 15, 2009. For more information please click here. 
 
PPAC ARTS Scholarships 2009
Twenty-Five scolarships valued at up to $500 each will be awarded to qualified RI students ages 11 - 14 to attend local, summer arts education programs. Applications will be available beginning January 2 here and must be submitted by March 6.  For more information please call 401-421-2997.

Call For Poets
Chabot Fine Art Gallery calls poets to submit love poems by January 3rd. Love poems should be appropriate for all age groups and selected love poems chosen will be read at the gallery on Friday evenings on January 16,23,30 in conjunction with their "Red Heart" collection exhibit.
