The 17th annual Providence Latin American Film Festival is presently looking for recently produced feature films, documentaries, shorts and animations for its general program and for the Fernando Birri Award's Best First Work Competition. Call For Artist Mentors
New Urban Arts, an interdisciplinary community art studio and gallery in Providence, is currently seeking artists to participate in a community-based residency program.
Position Description: New Urban Arts awards fellowships annually to two established artists and educators in a yearlong position to (1) support artist mentors who volunteer to mentor high school students in the arts; (2) share publicly artwork or ideas about community arts practice reflective of New Urban Arts pedagogy, and (3) be an active presence in the New Urban Arts Studio. The fellows jointly curate New Urban Arts /Conversations/, a public series in which unique individuals share how they integrate creativity into their personal and professional lives.
Each fellow receives Stipend $10,000/year. The period is October 1, 2009 - June 1, 2010 with an opportunity for one-year renewal. Application deadline is May, 1 2009.
Interested candidates should have experience in community-grounded work and/or youth and education work. Female artists and artists of color are encouraged to apply..

Aspire Resturant, located in the center of the arts and theater district of downtown Providence is hosting a contest to redesign the cover of their menu. The artwork needs to be the work of a locally based artisit and must have a Providence-inspired theme. The winning design will be chosen by a panel of Providence art enthusiasts, promoters and students by May 1st. The winner will receive a $500.00 cash prize, as well as a bio of the artisit on the inside cover of the menu! They are seeking artistic works that show us what a day without the ocean would be like. Selected photos will appear on a rotating basis on June’s Year of Science Ocean and Water website. Internship applications for Summer and Fall 2009 are available now for the Rhode Island International Film Festival. Camp Broadway’s National Tour at Providence Performing Arts Center Now Enrolling
Camp Broadway, a week-long day camp for theatre-loving kids, celebrates its 10th anniversary at PPAC this August 10-14, and registrations are now being accepted. Activities take place Monday-Friday from 9:00a to 5:00p, and include five days of singing, dancing, acting, master classes, a “Salute to Singin’ and Dancin’ Kids” luncheon with guest speakers, and a backstage tour of the Providence Performing Arts Center. The week culminates with a Campers’ performance on the PPAC stage for family and friends on Friday afternoon. Paid registrations are limited to 90 children ages 10-17 by August 1, 2009, and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Ten full scholarships for each week will be awarded in late spring to children on a non-competitive basis. Applications are available by clicking here.
Trinity Repertory Company's Young Actors Summer Institute Now Enrolling
For the fifth summer, Trinity Rep will open its doors for boys and girls in grades 5-12 to explore a world of creativity and theater under the instruction of RI's most knowledgeable theater professionals with the Young Actors Summer Institute. The Summer Institute offers students a challenging five weeks of study in the fields of acting, playwriting, dance and much more. Located on 91 Hartford Avenue in Olneyville, this is one of the few existing mill buildings presently being redeveloped for smaller industrial uses. Spaces in this mill start at 668 sq ft and are typically in the 2500 sq ft to 4000 sq ft range. All the units are upgraded with a new 60 amp service and additional electric is available as well as gas and water for processing.
