The Rhode Island International Film Festival is pleased to announce its fifth annual New England Student Film Festival. This competition-based event will again take place in August of 2009 as part of the annual RIIFF, August 4th – 9th, with screenings, classes and forums. Call For Artist Mentors
New Urban Arts, an interdisciplinary community art studio and gallery in Providence,  is currently seeking artists to participate in a community-based residency program.  Each fellow receives a stipend of $10,000/year. The period is October 1, 2009 - June 1, 2010 with an opportunity for one-year renewal. Application deadline is May, 1 2009.  Interested candidates should have experience in community-grounded work and/or youth and education work. Aspire Restaurant is seeking fresh artwork incorporated with their current logo for their menu covers.  The winner will receive $500, a congratulatory reception in the artist's honor at Aspire Restaurant and a brief artist bio to be printed on the menus.  All submissions must accompany a completed entry form (click here to email a request), artwork must be 8.5x11 and either in JPEG (300dpi) or PDF format.  All submissions can be emailed by clicking here or brought in person to the front desk of Hotel Providence located on 139 Mathewson Street.  The deadline for submissions has been extended to May 11.

National Endowment For The Humanities Summer Stipends Grant
Summer Stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to scholars and general audiences in the humanities.  Recipients usually produce articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly tools. Summer Stipends support full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two months.  The deadline to apply is October 1.  For more information please click here.
 
Rhode Island International Film Festival Internships
Internship applications for Summer and Fall 2009 are available now for the Rhode Island International Film Festival. RIIFF is seeking motivated, industrious, self-starting students who care about the community and want to be a part of New England’s largest film festival.  For more information please click here.
 
Camp Broadway’s National Tour at Providence Performing Arts Center Now Enrolling
Camp Broadway, a week-long day camp for theatre-loving kids, celebrates its 10th anniversary at PPAC this August 10-14, and registrations are now being accepted.  Activities take place Monday-Friday from 9:00a to 5:00p, and include five days of singing, dancing, acting, master classes, a “Salute to Singin’ and Dancin’ Kids” luncheon with guest speakers, and a backstage tour of the Providence Performing Arts Center.  The week culminates with a Campers’ performance on the PPAC stage for family and friends on Friday afternoon.  Paid registrations are limited to 90 children ages 10-17 by August 1, 2009, and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Ten full scholarships for each week will be awarded in late spring to children on a non-competitive basis.  Applications are available by clicking here. 
 
Trinity Repertory Company's Young Actors Summer Institute Now Enrolling
For the fifth summer, Trinity Rep will open its doors for boys and girls in grades 5-12 to explore a world of creativity and theater under the instruction of RI's most knowledgeable theater professionals with the Young Actors Summer Institute.  The Summer Institute offers students a challenging five weeks of study in the fields of acting, playwriting, dance and much more.  The Summer Institute runs from June 29 to August 1 in the Pell Chafee Performance Center.  For more information please call 521-1100 X230 or click here.
