The City of Providence, Department of Art, Culture + Tourism is seeking submissions from Providence artists working across all visual mediums for the BUY ART 2009 button campaign. Thumbnail visuals from five artists will be selected by a jury and incorporated into the City’s 2009 series of limited edition “I BUY ART” buttons. 15,000 of these buttons are distributed to venues and serve as a thank you to their art buyers.  Selected artists will receive a stipend of $500.  The deadline to submit is September 4.  For more information please click here.

Call For Child Actors
Trinity Repertory Company will be holding an open call for child actors on Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Cardi’s Furniture Superstore (Route 1A, South Attleboro , MA ) for its 33rd annual production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, directed by Birgitta Victorson. Children ages 8-12 are welcome to audition, although children who turn 13 before December 31, 2009, are not eligible. Each September, New Urban Arts selects 20 artist mentors to participate in their after-school programs. Call For RI Women Artists 
The Hive Archive seeks art and art installation proposals from Rhode Island women artists for The Hive’s Work by Women Billboard.  The Hive is a women-run feminist arts organization with a mission to promote gender equality by dismantling obstacles that limit women and girls in reaching their full creative potential.  Our work is focused on empowerment through art, creative expression, and civic involvement.  Interested artists can download the full project description and proposal guidelines by clicking here.  The deadline to submit is September 18.

Procycle 2009 Art is seeking film, music, photos, sculptures, illustrations and mixed media directly related to and positively represent contemporary bicycling culture.  Entrants must be legally adult (18+) amateur, professional or student artists from the tri-state area of CT, MA and RI.

Rhode Island Civic Chorale Auditions 
The Rhode Island Civic Chorale & Orchestra (RICCO), Rhode Island’s oldest continuing community choral ensemble, is announcing auditions to sing with the ensemble during its 53rd concert season. Rhode Island College Symphony  Orchestra Auditions 
The Rhode Island College Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for new members on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 7:30pm in the Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts rehearsal hall (Room 198). Please bring a classical piece, preferably from the standard repertoire. It may be an orchestral excerpt or a set piece. The Symphony Orchestra meets each Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. from September through April. For further information, call (401) 456-9515.
