October is National Arts & Humanities Month and to promote the effort, RI Citizens for the Arts has created an online events calendar.

Join the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and RI Citizens for the Arts for an evening of mentoring, networking, and socializing. There will be a quick update on the Creative Providence cultural plan and special announcements. Attendees will receive discounts on FirstWorks 2009 tickets.

The RI Center for the Book at the Providence Public Library invites all RI students in grades 4 - 12 to enter the national Letters About Literature contest with a national prize of a $10,000 grant for their local school or community library. The Arts & Business Council is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 "Artist's Professional Toolbox" program.
