Opportunities In The Arts: A Resource Guide

Mayor Angel Taveras and the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism are pleased to announce the publication of Creative Teaching and Learning Opportunities in the Arts: A Resource Guide of Non-Profit Arts and Cultural Organizations For Youth, Families and Students.

The brochure is divided into four segments. It details resources for kids and families, resources for students and teachers, information about transportation, and a brief section about other miscellaneous arts education opportunities. The programs listed in the guide cover a wide range of artistic disciplines, but all are focused on youth. The guide includes synopses of the programs, details concerning fees, and contact information. It is the Department's hope that this guide will serve as a gateway to further access to arts education opportunities for youth in the Providence community.

The guide was developed in response to one of the goals of Creative Providence: a Cultural Plan for the Creative Sector, established by the Department in 2009. The goal aims to "educate and inspire the next generation of creative thinkers." Reaching this goal requires awareness and communication, and by informing the public, the guide will facilitate those processes.
