The Rhode Island Black Heritage Society Seeks Civil Rights Participants

2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. In addition, January 1 is the 150th anniversary of the official emancipation of slaves.

The Rhode Island Black Heritage Society would like to identify people from Rhode Island and Massachusetts who participated in the 1963 March on Washington or other aspects of the civil rights struggle and are willing to tell their stories, whether through speaking at schools or community gatherings, media interviews, or oral or written histories.

If you were actively involved during that period or know others who were involved, please send them your name, phone number(s) and e-mail address and/or the names of others who participated.
