White Rabbits In Waterplace Park!

Providence, RI - Mayor Angel Taveras, the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and 95.5 WBRU are pleased to announce a performance by the White Rabbits on June 29 as part of this summer's Friday Night Concert Series at Waterplace Park. This performance is free and open to the public and begins at 7:30pm.

Resurrected from the ashes of the popular Missouri indie-rock band Texas Chainsaw Mass Choir, the White Rabbits bring a high energy performance to the stage that few can match.

Formed in 2004 by frontmen Greg Roberts and Stephen Patterson, the band recruited Rustine Bragaw (bass), Matthew Clark (drums) and Alexander Eden (guitar) to flesh out the line-up. After a live show here and there, the band decided to roll the dice and move to New York City. Before the band even got situated in their new home, they added a second drummer to the mix, Jamie Levinson.

It took only one live show in New York for the band to be heard, discovered and signed to the New York indie label Say Hey Records who put out their debut LP Fort Nightly in 2007 to critical success.

Going on a non-stop touring frenzy and playing with the likes of the Walkmen, Kaiser Chiefs and Interpol helped hone the band's trademark live performances, which have the energy level dialed up way past ten. This also got the band noticed by Radiohead's label TBD Records who signed the band and released their 2009 sophomore effort, It's Frightening.

It's Frightening was well received by the critics and the band capitalized on this by using the positive reviews of the album as a spring board to bigger venues and opportunities. The band began playing such high profile festivals as Lollapalooza, Coachella, Austin City Limits and the Voodoo Music Experience while also being featured on several TV shows including the BBC Show Later with Jools Holland, the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night With Conan O'Brien.

Never ones to take a break, the band is back on tour to support their latest effort, Milk Famous. Although the album has been on the shelves for a short time, it has generated the type of buzz the band is now getting used to, which definetly isn't a bad thing.
