Starting on February 1st, Providence City Council meetings will be broadcast on Cox Communications channel 17 and Verizon FIOS channel 38 twice a week; Sundays at 5 pm and Thursdays at 7 pm.
Council President Peter S. Mancini stressed the move’s impact on open government, “Airing our proceedings twice each week improves the public’s access to the City government and is part of a larger effort to ensure that the Council is as open and transparent as possible in all its legislative activities.”
City Council meetings have been broadcast once every other week through Rhode Island Public Access since April of last year.
