Recorder of Deeds
Located on the 5th Floor of City Hall, Room 508



This department records all original documents relating to property located in the City of Providence. Copies of a recorded document can be obtained for $1.50/page. Ownership information can be obtained from the Tax Assessor's office with the exact address. A clerk will print out all recorded information. This document can be brought to the Recorder of Deeds to obtain the deed. Property information is not given to anyone over the phone.

Recorder of Deeds Office is open from 8:30am-3:30pm to record documents and to 4:30pm for research. Summer hours are 8:30-3:00 and research until 4:00.

Deeds $82.00
Mortgages $62.00
All other documents are $47.00 and $1.00 for any additional page

All Deeds must have original signatures, legal descriptions, assessor's Plat & Lot#/property address, a mailing address for a tax bill and a notarized signature of the Seller.

A Discharge of Mortgage or any other Lien must contain all of the recording information pertaining to said document. All documents that are mailed in to be recorded must include a postage paid return envelope. Turn around time is 2-3 weeks. Maps or Plans should not be any larger than 24x24. If lots have been merged, one Mylar original is sufficient with Dept. of Planning approval stamp. Price to record is $45.00 and $5.00 ea. additional page.

RECORDINGS ARE DONE IN THE CITY/TOWN IN WHICH THE PROPERTY IS LOCATED.
