Kevin E. Jackson is a native of Warwick, Rhode Island, and has lived in Providence since he was 20 years old. He joined the Providence City Council in 1995, was re-elected in 1998 and ran unopposed in 2002. Councilman Jackson, a Democrat, represents Ward 3, which includes the Mount Hope neighborhood.

 

Kevin’s professional life is marked by his many years of experience in various levels of coaching. He was the recipient of three "Coaches of the Year" awards. He is known for being an excellent motivator and very results-oriented. Since he is community-oriented and civic minded, he is committed to empowering others to better the quality of life in his ward.

 

Presently, he works as coordinator of Men's and Women's Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field at Rhode Island College, and is the educational coordinator for the Whitmarsh Corporation. Councilman Jackson is the founder and a president of the Providence Cobras Youth Track and Field Team. Previously, he was a counselor for Volunteers of America in Pawtucket; a head coach for Boys' Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field at Pilgrim High School in Warwick; an educational coordinator for St. Aloysius Home in Greenville; and a coach at Hope High School for ten years.

 

Councilman Jackson attended Rhode Island College, graduating with a B.A. in Social Welfare and double major in Psychology. He also has 15 credits towards his Master’s degree.
