As the Councilman in Ward 7 for almost 10 years, Councilman Igliozzi has passionately and aggressively represented the people of Silver Lake and Hartford Park. A lifelong resident of the Silver Lake neighborhood, Igliozzi comes from a family active in public service, including his father Vincent, his late mother Dolores and his brother David and sister Angelica.
Some of his accomplishments include the building of new schools (Carnevale Elementary and DelSesto Middle Schools) and the rehabilitation of old ones (Laurel Hill Elementary and Oliver Hazard Perry Middle School). He was responsible for the creation of the first ever skateboard park in the City of Providence, two new water parks, lighted walking tracks, and new playgrounds all located throughout the Ward 7 neighborhood. Also, he had modern soccer fields constructed at Merino Park, and helped to establish Merino Park as the home to Capitol Youth Soccer League.
Councilman Igliozzi is the founder of the Reading Express Library for neighborhood children located in the Silver Lake Community Center on Plainfield Street and the Annual Kids Fun Day. He is a team sponsor for the Silver Lake Little League and Capitol Youth Soccer League. He was instrumental in establishing several new and rehabilitation of old businesses in Ward 7 (i.e. LaMoia’s Restaurant, Maya Azteca Restaurant, Dunkin Donuts and Labella’s Market and Restaurant).
Councilman Igliozzi has been a strong advocate and will continue to fight for tax reform, pension reform and everyday quality of life issues (i.e. noise and traffic control and community policing) to make our neighborhood the best place to live, work and raise a family.
An attorney by profession, Councilman Igliozzi is married to the former Cheryl Cusick, and they have two sons, Gian and Nico.
