Tejada Announces New Speed Humps for Narragansett Avenue

City Councilman Leon F. Tejada (Ward 8) announced today that new speed humps will be installed on Narragansett Avenue to help combat the speeding problem that has become an issue on that road.

“Cars traveling well over the speed limit along Narragansett Avenue have created a dangerous situation for the people who live there and for the other drivers on the road,” said Tejada. “The installation of these speed humps will force motorists to slow down and help make this neighborhood a safer place.”

Residents have long complained about speeding vehicles on Narragansett Avenue and, earlier this year, an accident on the road resulted in an overturned vehicle. The playground located on the street has fueled extra concerns about the speeding issue. “The speed humps will give peace of mind to parents who have worried about the safety of their children when they go out to play,” said Tejada.

Councilman Tejada designated Ward 8 bond funds to pay for the project, which the Department of Public Works has scheduled for installation this week.
