RIDOT Community Update: Providence Viaduct

From June 16-22, 2013, the following operations will be in effect:

Night Work

• Finish bolting barrier down on I-95 at Exit 22 (Downtown), then move to Exit 21 (Atwells Avenue) and finish bolting barrier on Exit 21 (Atwells Avenue).
• Crews be performing barrier work on the ramp from Routes 6/10 EB to I-95 SB.
• Crews will begin installing highway lighting on the ramp from Routes 6/10 EB to I-95 SB.

Day Work

• Crews will install two steel H piles for pile load test.
• Crews will begin installing electrical conduit for highway lighting.

Lane Closures

• Sunday night: Exit 22 (Downtown) off of I-95 SB will be closed. Please use Exit 21 (Atwells Avenue) as a detour. The right lane on I-95 SB from Exit 23 (Route 146) to Exit 21 (Atwells Avenue) will also be closed.
• Monday - Wednesday Nights: Exit 21 (Atwells Ave) off of I-95 SB will be closed. Please use Exit 22 (Downtown) as a detour. The right lane on I-95 SB from Exit 23 (Route 146) to Exit 21 (Atwells Avenue) will also be closed. The ramp from Routes 6/10 EB to I-95 SB as well as the ramp from Memorial Boulevard WB to I-95 SB will be closed. Please follow detours.
• Thursday Night: The ramp from Routes 6/10 EB to I-95 SB as well as the ramp from Memorial Boulevard WB to I-95 SB will be closed. Please follow detours.

Looking Ahead

Highway lighting installation; Drainage installation at Providence Place; Excavation of the slope that faces the Foundry Building; Pile Driving at the north end of the project (Promenade Street).
