"We can not insure the security of the homeland until first insure the security of our hometowns."
- Tom Ridge
Since the attacks on September 11th, 2001, the "All-hazards" approach of responding to terrorist caused emergencies has become a major role for Emergency Management agencies across the United States. In October 2004, Mayor David N. Cicilline, issued Executive Order 2004-08 charging both the Emergency Management Agency and Police Department with duties associated with Homeland Security within the City of Providence.
To help keep our nation safe from those who wish to do intentional harm from either domestic or international terrorist organizations, we need your help. The Providence Emergency Management Agency & Office of Homeland Security urges all our residents to be aware of suspicious activity and report it to the Police Department at (401) 272-3121. For more information visit the PEMA Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) page.
You can assist by remaining alert and be aware of everyday activities in your neighborhood. Encourage the involvement of family, friends and neighbors. Assume responsibility to observe and report activities that appear out of place or unusual.
