The Providence Fire Department, in cooperation with the Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), the Providence Police Department and waterfront businesses will be conducting an evacuation drill of commercial facilities located in the Port of Providence on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 10 am.
The main goal of this disaster drill is to test PEMA's emergency evacuation plan for the Port of Providence and also to provide each facility in the area with an opportunity to test their internal evacuation plans.
First Responders will be activating the Port Sirens Warning System and the Emergency Notification System (ENS) to notify facilities in the Port area to evacuate. Evacuees will be staging at Conley's Wharf, 200 Allens Avenue, Providence.
These sirens may be audible in surrounding communities. The message will be preceded by "This is a Drill".
Participating agencies include the Providence Police and Fire Departments and companies located at the Port of Providence.
