Bar a five year old German shepherd, who served four years as a member of the Providence Police K-9 unit and assisted in the 1996 apprehension of convicted murderer Gene Travis, died of cancer July 10, 1999

The staff at Animal Control want to thank Nancy and Barr for all the times they would come and assist with shelter and class tours, even if they were on a day off or at with last minute notice. Barr will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially the hundreds of school children he came in contact with through out the years.
