Animal Control provides services important to the protection and safety of the citizens of Providence. The most important of these services are rabies control, law enforcement, and educational programs. The image of Animal Control has grown to one that is well-recognized by children, youth, and adults.
Animal Control was created by ordinance and occupies a unique position in the community combining the activities of a law enforcement agency which protects people and their property and animals.
Our Mission

Animal Controls mission is to balance the health, safety and welfare needs of people and animals within the City of Providence by:
- Protecting
the rights of people from the dangers and nuisances caused by uncontrollable animals
- Ensuring
the legal protection of animals from mistreatment
- Promoting
motivating and enforcing responsible pet ownership
- Providing
animal-related services to the citizens of Providence
- Educating
the public through presentations and public relations
- Responding
to questions citizens may have regarding animals and referring them as necessary to the correct party
- Providing
a lost and found service for returning lost pets to owners
