City Archives to open evenings

The Providence City Archives will join several other city departments in remaining open until 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Archivist Paul Campbell explained that while use of the archives has been increasing, many who work or students with full class schedules sometime have difficulty utilizing the archives during regular business hours. Daytime parking can also be particularly challenging.
"I have discussed expanding our hours with City Clerk Anna Stetson and she fully supports the move," said Campbell.

"We are excited to extend this service to local residents, students, genealogists and all those who wish to make use of our valuable archival materials." The City Archives is located on the 5th floor of Providence City Hall. For more information call 421-7740 extension 314.
