Learn to connect kids to the food they eat and the ecosystems and wildlife surrounding them. This workshop is intended for formal educators, pre-service teachers, informal educators, and URI Master Gardeners interested in teaching tools that can be used to combat Nature Deficit Disorder.
This workshop covers the following three curriculum units: Biodiversity in Urban Gardens, Food Literacy, Water Cycle and Watersheds.
The three curriculum units are appropriate for use in outdoor and indoor settings and adaptable for grades K-12. Connect your students to nature while achieving academic results in Science, Math and English Language Arts!
Instructors include Vanessa Venturini, URI Outreach Center Youth Education Coordinator and Melissa Pace, URI Master Gardener and Elementary Educator.
