Local Filmmaker has premiere on NOVA/ PBS tonight at 9 pm

Economic Development Chief James S. Bennett saluted local movie company president Gary Glassman on the successful premiere of his newest film, Forensics on Trial, which will air tonight on NOVA/PBS at 9:00 PM. (Please check local listings.)

Glassman is a long-time Providence businessman who has won international acclaim for his non-fiction productions and has been featured on The History Channel, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, the British Broadcasting Company (BBC,) and other stations worldwide. He is also a member of the Providence Economic Development Partnership, where he represents the concerns of the city's creative economy. Glassman is also the recipient of numerous nominations for the industry's most prestigious awards including 6 Emmys, 2 Writers Guild Awards, the AAA Science Journalism Prize, a Peabody and the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Journalism Award.

"Gary Glassman is one of the most talented and creative artists I know," said Economic Development chief Jim Bennett. "We are thrilled about this latest accomplishment and know it reflects incredibly well on his talent and reputation, and upon our city's entire creative economy."

The 16-year old company, based on Eddy Street, has been used a number of times for international science and historic productions, including "The Trial of Jesus," "Anatomy of a Crash," "The Lost King of Maya," "Secrets of the Parthenon," and most recently, "Building the Great Cathedrals."

Using fine narrative and extraordinary photography and visuals, Glassman's documentaries are recognized worldwide for their research and photography and for the huge audiences they attract.
