Disasters will strike and most times, we cannot prevent them from happening. But we can minimize the impact of these disasters, reduce losses and recover more quickly, if we prepare.

With Hurricane Season here and winter not far behind, Mother Nature is sure to present business owners some challenges. To learn how you can protect yourself, your employees, your business and your bottom line, take advantage of our free, expert resources.

Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) offers free business-centric workshops with practical, useful information through its Business Continuity and Resilience Project. The next workshop is scheduled for September 5 (location TBD.) Register on-line http://www.providenceri.com/PEMA/business-resilience-registration.

And, on October 11, from 4 pm to 6 pm, the Mayor's office and U.S. Small Business Administration, RI Small Business Development Center and Center for Women and Enterprise will host another free business workshop, "Business Continuity Planning: Protecting your Business From Disaster," at PEMA's offices on Charles Street. To register visit www.providence.ri@sba.gov, or call 401.680.8401, as space is limited.
