On Saturday, Dec. 10, Mayor Taveras traveled to 1224 North Main Street for the grand opening of the first bilingual Cox Solutions store in the nation.
Mayor Taveras was joined for the ribbon-cutting and tour of the new store by US Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island Senator Juan Pichardo; Providence Councilwoman Sabina Matos, Cox Communications Senior Vice President and General Manager Paul Cronin, Store Manager Luis Concepcion and more than 100 Cox employees and customers.
"We are here to celebrate a great day, as Providence welcomes Cox's first bilingual store in the nation and an important new retail presence in our community," said Mayor Taveras. "This store brings energy and excitement to North Main Street and paves the way for further local development and economic activity."
The Providence Solutions store replaces Cox's previous location on Houghton Street, and fills a storefront that had been vacant.
"While we've long supported important community based organizations with cash and in-kind support, our Providence Solutions store further demonstrates our long-term commitment to the needs of our Hispanic customers," said Mr. Cronin.
