MBE/WBE Division

The MBE/WBE Division monitors and/or delegates staff to conduct on-site construction site compliance inspections, when possible. This office is responsible for coordinating a system for MBE/WBE compliance oversight of City departments including the Providence School Department and the Providence Water Supply Board.

The office examine departmental records and practices with respect to MBE/WBE compliance & adherence to the City's MBE/WBE Ordinance (Section 21-52). The office works in conjunction with he Director of Purchasing to conduct departmental director meeting(s) to educate, update & inform department directors of MBE/WBE requirement goals with the overall goal of attaining citywide departmental cooperation in attaining MBE/WBE participation goals & adherence to EEO laws.

The office also works with the Director of Purchasing to establish systems to assist the Board of Contract & Supply in the drafting & adoption of regulatory procedures in relation to the City of Providence MBE/WBE ordinance (Section 21-52).
