In the summer of 2012, the IT Department worked with Payroll and Human Resources to launch a new electronic delivery of pay advices - ePay. The program runs during weekly payroll processing, and directs employee pay advices to be emailed or printed. Since its inception through the end of October, 2012, nearly 1,000 City and School employees have enrolled in the program.
The ePay program provides several advantages to both the City and its employees: pay advices are emailed as they are processed, and employees receive the message a day or two before funds are deposited in their account; less paper is used in the payroll process, reducing material and printing cost; fewer trips to remote sites are necessary to deliver pay advices; pay advices can be filed in personal email accounts for easy retrieval. By the end of 2012, ePay for retirees will be active, further reducing printing and mailing costs.
