
Pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws 3-7-7.3, the Providence Board of Licenses (Hereinafter Board) defines entertainment as:
Entertainment:
Is defined as live performances, disc jockeys, shows, sporting events, and exhibitions held indoor or outdoors that invite members of the public with or without charge. Live performances include live productions of music or sound by individuals, bands, musicians, dancing, karaoke, and theatric performances.
Adult Entertainment:
Is defined as businesses and commercial establishments where employees, operators, owners, and individuals work or perform in the nude. Nudity includes showing human male and female genitals, pubic area, buttocks, and female breasts with less than fully opaque coverings and covered male genitals. Adult entertainment also includes actual and simulated sexual activity by nude and clothed individuals and "live" exposure films, videos, and reproductions of such sexual activities. Adult entertainment is only permitted in M-1 and M-2 Zones.
Application Process:
The Board requires Entertainment License Applicants to complete applications containing applicant names, cell phone numbers, and entertainment venue addresses, dates, and times. Entertainment License Applications are then placed on the Board's docket for review with 48 hours notice as required by state law.
