
Travel + Leisure released their annual America's Favorite Cities list earlier today. Providence ranked Number One in the Food/Drink/Restaurants category. Mayor Taveras released the following statement touting the Capital City's chefs and restaurateurs:
"Travel + Leisure confirmed what we already know: Providence has the best restaurants and the best food in America. Congratulations to all the chefs, cooks, restaurant owners and culinary professionals who make our city the capital of American dining. Our restaurants, cafes, bars and food trucks are vital parts of our creative economy and make Providence a more attractive city for students, professionals and innovative industries."
Providence earned high ranks in each of the nine sub-categories, including a Number One ranking for burgers. The Capital City also ranked second for ice cream and pizza; third for cafes; fourth for coffee and food trucks; eighth for fine dining and ethnic food; ninth for microbrews; and 20th for barbecue.
