"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." - President Woodrow Wilson
This day marks the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918. The following year, November 11 was made a national holiday in honor of our nation's veterans.
As we enjoy this Veterans Day in the company of family and friends, we pay tribute to the brave men and women in our nation's military who are presently serving overseas and are in harm's way. Let us remember all of those who have served in our nation's armed forces, and let us reflect on the freedoms we enjoy in this nation that were paid for by those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
