Community to be engaged on the decision-making process for the closed school building.
The City of Providence is holding its first community meeting to provide the public with the opportunity to offer input on the proposed future use for the Asa Messer building.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Asa Messer School Building located at 158 Messer Street, Providence, on Tuesday, July 12 from 6:00-7:30 PM.
In June, the City of Providence held an RFP (Request for Proposals) process for interested parties to buy or lease the building so that it may continue to serve the local neighborhood and the City.
The Asa Messer Neighborhood School Stakeholder Committee, along with Mayor Taveras and the Providence School Department, welcome and encourage community members to attend and give input on the proposed future use for the Asa Messer building.
The Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts (TAPA) submitted the only valid bid to the City. TAPA wishes to lease the building for 3 years.
Better Providence, a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501c3 organization, is convening the community input process.
