
Offer Hundreds of Opportunities at Education Job Fair; Per Diem Substitute Teacher Positions Available at Two Upcoming Job Fairs.
Mayor Angel Taveras announced today that the City of Providence and Providence Public School District are partnering with Workforce Solutions of Providence/Cranston (WSPC) and the R.I. Department of Labor and Training to host two upcoming job fairs for hundreds of available per diem substitute-teacher positions for the 2013-2014 school year.

These job fairs are being held to ensure that the Providence Public School District has a qualified professional before every classroom throughout the course of the year.
Applicants holding a Bachelor's degree in any subject area are eligible to teach in a per-diem substitute capacity. Before they begin work, they must simply apply for and receive a general subject matter certification from the Rhode Island Department of Education. The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training's Business Workforce Center has assisted with planning, promotion and recruitment in advance of the job fair, and will provide staff support during the event. They are supporting the Providence Public School District and Workforce Solutions of Providence/ Cranston in this effort.
