Fall Activities Scheduled Across the City This Weekend

As you make plans with family and friends for what promises to be a crisp autumn weekend, keep in mind the events that are taking place across the City celebrating the spooky season.

If you haven't gotten into the Halloween spirit just yet, catch a film featured by the RI International Horror Film Festival. Films will be shown at various locations in Providence and across the state all weekend long. For the full schedule, click here. The Festival culminates in a walking tour that will trace the favorite haunts of one of Providence's most famed and chilling writers, H.P. Lovecraft. The tour leaves from the John Brown House at 1pm on Sunday.

If you're looking to enjoy the outdoors this weekend, Providence parks are offering activities for the entire family to enjoy the fresh autumnal air. Bring the kids to Burnside Park tomorrow morning for a Spooky Storytime and Haunted Art in the Park from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

In addition, Spooky Zoo is back at Roger Williams Park, offering a full lineup of daytime outdoor activities. Enjoy a packed schedule of trick-or-treating, music, costumed characters, a magician, pumpkin carving demonstrations, games, pumpkin treats for the animals, and more. Activities are free with Zoo admission and all children aged 12 and under who are dressed in costume get in for half price.

Of course, the annual Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park remains one of Providence's most iconic fall events. This year's themed exhibit, "All the World's a Stage," features 5,000 illuminated pumpkins, many of which are carved to depict scenes from popular films, television shows and Broadway productions. The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular runs through November 3.
