Lace Up Your Skates! Ice Skating Season Gets Underway November 20th at the Bank of America City Center

Skate with the Providence Bruins, glide across the ice with Santa and much more this winter season

PROVIDENCE - Providence residents and visitors alike can once again savor the winter tradition of ice skating at the Bank of America City Center beginning on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 5pm. The City of Providence will offer a full four months of skating at low, affordable rates.

The Bank of America City Center skating rink - one of New England's most popular destinations for wintertime play - is twice the size of Rockefeller Plaza's ice rink in New York City. General admission is $6 for adults and $3 for seniors and children (under 12) and $2 admission for school groups. Skate rental is $4. Providence residents, with valid identification, can skate for free on the first Saturday of each month with a $2 charge for skate rental.

The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. The skating rink is open for special hours on all winter holidays.


The Bank of America City Center will offer a variety of fun activities this season including the following:

-Downtown Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting, Saturday, December 4th - enjoy a professional figure skating exhibition after the Mayor's tree lighting at City Hall

-Learn-To-Skate six-week session begins Saturday, December 4th.

-Skate with Santa, Sunday, December 12th and Sunday, December 19th from 2 pm until 4 pm

-Bright Night, Friday, December 31st 5-6pm skating performances and opening ceremonies.

-Providence Bruins practice, January, 2011 - watch Bruins players practice and then skate with players (date to be announced).

-Skate with 28, February, 2011 food-raiser for RI Community Food Bank with CW28 featuring contests, performers, refreshments and prizes (date to be announced).

-Valentine's Day, February 14th, 2011 6-8pm; bring a CD and have a song dedicated to your sweetheart; 8-10pm Free Valentine's Day keepsake for couples

-College Night, every Wednesday from 6 pm until 10 pm - admission for college students is $3 with a valid college photo ID

-Lunchtime Special, every weekday from noon until 2 pm - admission is $3 and skate rentals are $3

-Afterwork Special, every weekday from 4 pm until 6 pm - admission is $3 and skate rentals are $3
