In advance of the first day of school, Mayor Angel Taveras, the City of Providence's Subcommittee on Youth Engagement and the City's generous salon partners will host Providence's first-ever free Back-to-School Haircut Day tomorrow, Tuesday, August 19.
"For many families, paying for supplies, clothes and other items children need when they go back to school can be a challenge," said Mayor Taveras. "I thank the hair salons and barber shops that have agreed to participate in Providence's first-ever Back-to-School Haircut Day for their commitment to helping our students start the school year confident and ready to learn."
All Providence K-12 students are encouraged to bring a school supply donation to any participating salon during the listed time frame in exchange for a free haircut. School supplies will be distributed to students in need.
