Mayor Taveras Welcomes Rockland Trust to Downtown Providence

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Leading commercial lending and wealth management offices to be located at GTECH Center.

On Wednesday, October 5, Mayor Angel Taveras joined Governor Lincoln Chafee and Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Keith Stokes in welcoming Christopher Oddleifson, CEO of Rockland Trust, and bank representatives to their first branch office in Providence.

"Rockland Trust Bank's new branch in Providence signals a stronger commitment to the Capital City and our communities. The bank's investment in Providence has already created 1,000 permanent jobs and 1,200 temporary jobs for local workers through projects like the Baker Street neighborhood revitalization and the financing of a permanent home for the Olneyville Neighborhood Corporation. We welcome Rockland Trust Bank as our newest downtown neighbor, " said Mayor Taveras.

Located in the GTECH Center, the bank's new Commercial Lending Center and Wealth Management Office will offer customers direct access to a team of nine commercial lending and investment management experts. The move affirms Rockland Trust's commitment to conducting business in Rhode Island and its efforts to grow its established portfolio in the market - which currently represents more than $220 million in recent financing support for local companies and $454 million in assets under management.

The announcement was made at the Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Providence, the revitalized site of a former Fransciscan Order facility that Rockland Trust helped finance in 2007.
