Name the New City Building

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Recommendations will be accepted until July 24, 2011.

The City of Providence is now accepting recommendations from the public to name the new municipal building located at 444 Westminster Street after a local individual who has made a substantial contribution to the Capital City.

The former Blue Cross/Blue Shield facility on the corner of Westminster and Empire streets will house the municipal offices of Planning & Development, Inspection & Standards, Workforce Solutions and Information Technology, with plans for the City Solicitor's Office to move in the fall. The consolidation of these departments into one building will provide people who live and do business in the City with easy, one-stop access to municipal departments formerly spread throughout the city.

Naming the Building
Suggestions of local individuals who have made a substantial contribution to Providence will be accepted until July 24, 2011. The selected nominee will be announced by Mayor Angel Taveras at a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Nominations should be no longer than one page, specific about how the nominee qualifies. To submit, email to Yvette Jaquez, yjaquez@providenceri.com or by mail at:
