Parents Magazine Rates Providence Fifth Healthiest City for Families

High marks given for medical care, outdoor fun and safety.

Providence is among the Top 10 American cities that make the well-being of families a top priority. Parents Magazine rated Providence No. 5 in its new list of America's healthiest cities. Magazine editors studied categories such as access to medical care, healthy schools, environment, and availability of parks, playgrounds and outdoor activities.

Hasbro Children's Hospital and Farm Fresh Rhode Island were both lauded for contributing to Providence's healthy atmosphere for parents and kids.

"Providence has as many playgrounds and ball fields as cities two to three times its size, plus its own top-notch children's hospital," said Parents Magazine. The Capital City, which recently garnered No. 3 rank on Travel + Leisure's America's Best Cities for Foodies survey, was also cited by Parents Magazine for its superb food scene and locally grown food.
