Providence City Hall Open Until 7PM Wed. November 16

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Collector, Assessor, Licenses and Vital Statistics office extend hours twice a month to make city government more responsive to residents.

On Wednesday, November 16, four city departments will stay open until 7PM. The Offices of City Collector, City Assessor, Board of Licenses and Vital Statistics will remain open until 7pm every first and third Wednesday of every month, as part of a pilot program to make city government more accessible to residents.

The extended hours at City Hall reflect Mayor Taveras' commitment to making city government more flexible and responsive to working families and all city residents. All services performed during the day will be available during evening hours at the Board of Licenses, the City Assessor's Office and in the Office of Vital Statistics. The Board of Licenses has also updated several forms that are now available for download on-line.

The services available at City Collector's Office include tax payments, obtaining duplicate bills, clearing city licenses and removing DMV registration blocks. Bilingual services will be offered in the City Collector's Office until 5:30PM. Services that are not available in the Collector's Office during evening hours are phone inquiries, municipal lien certificates, tax-sale redemptions and payment plans/settlements.
