Providence Teacher Honored by Office Max in Surprise Ceremony

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Pleasant View Elementary School special education teacher Gloria Simoneau receives $1000 worth of classroom supplies.

In a surprise ceremony, Pleasant View Elementary School special education teacher Gloria Simoneau was honored Tuesday morning by Office Max as part of their "A Day Made Better" initiative. The award, for which Simoneau was nominated by her colleagues and principal, Dr. Gara Field, will provide the veteran teacher with $1000 worth of classroom supplies, a dollar amount the company describes as a typical personal expenditure for a teacher to equip his or her classroom.

Office Max celebrated the fifth anniversary of "A Day Made Better" on Tuesday by giving away $1 million in supplies to 1,000 teachers nationwide. Matt Grinchell, assistant manager of the chain's Cranston store, was on hand to present the award to Simoneau.
