Voting is now open for the Travel + Leisure "America's Favorite Cities" 2012 Survey. The poll allows locals and non-residents alike to rank 35 cities across the nation in a variety of categories. Survey questions ask participants to rate selected cities' destination indicators including dining, arts, and culture.
Last year, Providence ranked as the second best food destination and was voted the top spot to get a hamburger in the country. The City earned top ten rankings in all dining categories (with the exception of barbecue). High marks were also earned in the "People" category, with city residents placing in the top ten as "diverse" (#7), "stylish" (#7), "offbeat" (#6), and" tech-savvy" (#7).
In response to last year's impressive results, Mayor Angel Taveras said, "I am pleased that the readers of Travel + Leisure thought so favorably of our citizens and of our city. The high praise earned for our restaurant and arts communities truly cements our reputation as a wonderful place to visit and to live."
