Drawing from the Collections: A Course in Observational Sketching

Adults of all skill levels are welcome to participate. Classes are offered three Saturdays a month from 10:00am to 12:00pm October - March. Explore fundamental drawing techniques in a unique setting, utilizing objects from the Museum’s vast collections. This focus of this drawing class is on learning to look. Each month will have a theme, with related specimens. Special requests must be made prior to the start of the first class of the month. Pre-registration is required.

 

PROGRAM OFFERINGS:
December: 5, 12, 19: Winter Wonderland

Discover some of the creatures that love it when it’s cold outside! Explore some of the unique adaptations that make cold weather survival possible.

January: 9, 16, 23: Tropical Dreams
Let’s warm up and draw! Be dazzled by the kaleidoscope of color found in the birds and other creatures of the tropics. So, brush off the winter blues and join us!

February: 13, 20, 27: Nature in Love
Love is in the air at the Museum!  View the diversity of nature between the sexes of the animal world. Differences of color and beauty are on display as you enjoy the pairings of various creatures from all over the world.

March: 6, 13, 27: Shoreline Soirée
Take an end-of-winter “stroll” through the Museum’s collection of shoreline creatures. From crabs to Plovers, jump in and get your feet wet while drawing these wet and wild shoreline inhabitants.


Cost: $15 per day/$12 members

Sign up for 2 or more in a month: $12 per day/$10 members
