Monthly Homeschool Adventures
 

Homeschool Adventure Days are programs held at the Museum of Natural History for local homeschool families. Programs run the first Monday of each month, from 10:00am to 1:00 pm, and each month is organized around a different topic.  Family activity workshops are held at 10:30am and 11:30am; other demonstrations, activities, crafts, and scavenger hunts are available between 10:00am and 1:00 pm. Register now to guarantee you’ll be part of the fun! Space is limited and pre-registration is recommended. Cost is $10 per family if pre-registered and pre-paid, $15 per family if you register the day of the event. In the event of inclement weather, homeschool days will be held the following Monday. Please note that advance payments cannot be refunded.

Advance registration is recommended for each session. To make a reservation, contact the Museum’s Education Department at  401.785.9457 x247 or

Fee per session
$10 per family if pre-registered and pre-paid.

$15 per family if you register the day of the event.


 


 

Monday, December 7, 10:00am – 1:00pm: Polar Expedition
Polar Adaptations Family Workshop offered at 10:30am and 11:30am:
How have people and animals adapted to life in the polar regions? Learn about some surprising physical and cultural adaptations to this environment. No children under 4 permitted in the workshop.

Observing the Polar Regions Activity Table:
Use satellite data and images to discover ongoing changes in the Earth’s polar regions.

Arctic vs. Antarctic Activity Table:
Learn the differences between the Arctic and Antarctica and discover some surprising facts about both.

Plus special scavenger hunt and crafts available.

 


January 4, 2010, 10:00am – 1:00pm: Amazing Africa

(Snow date January 11, 2010)

 

Magical Mask Family Workshop offered at 10:30am and 11:30am:
Learn about the masks and myths of Africa, then make your own mask to take home. No children under 4 permitted in the workshop.

 

Musical instruments of Africa Activity Table:
Can you carry a tune? Try your hand at some African musical instruments!

 

Animals and Environments Activity Table:
 
Africa is a huge and diverse continent! Discover the different habitats of Africa and some unique animals that inhabit them.

 

Plus special scavenger hunt and crafts available.
